An exhibition of new works by Portuguese artist João Penalva is being launched at the Simon Lee Gallery on 22nd January.
From large scale installations to intimate, obscure artworks, Penalva is famous for his diverse pieces using a variety of mediums including photography, film, sculpture, projection and painting. For his first solo exhibition at the gallery he is presenting a selection of works from, ‘Looking up in Osaka’, a photographic series taken in Japan from 2005-2006.
The series focuses on utility poles and cables, showing drawing like images across changing backdrops. RAW will be attending the opening to review the exhibition and give you our highlights of the collection.
